Things happen in our lives we cannot control and when those things catch you off guard and you are not prepared you sometimes don't know what to do. I was recently involved in a fire that was out of my hands. i did not start it and had no part of starting it. Something as little as a cigarette caused 21 families to be on the streets. There were a lot of kids amongst those families as well and everything from clothes to toys were lost. Nothing, not even something as little as a toothbrush was able to be saved. My family as well as others were stuck with the clothes on our backs and we felt hopeless. All we could do was sit back and watch our homes burn.
All the donations everyone has made to red cross over the years was the reason we all had hope. We have also received donations from local neighbors and people we don't even know. So instead of throwing your old stuff away please donate them to a church or local charity and just know you will be helping out someone in need. It could be a child or an old couple, you never know who might need it.
Please click the link to the left and help donate to the red cross. All it takes is a second and a click. I believe for evry click i receive there will be a donation to the red cross. So please like i said it only takes a second to change someones life.

Red Cross, Boy scouts and Girl scouts and fire department
I recently lost my home in a fire along with 21 other families in california, maryland. Unfortunatly six out of the 21 families are still homeless including me, my son and my fiancee. We were amongst the six who did not have renters insurance. We lost everything. we couldnt even save a toothbrush with all the damage done to our place. We only had the clothes on our backs. It was a traumatizing view pulling up to our apartment building only to see firetrucks and smoke along with the fire. There were many animals still locked in the apartments, one being my cat, charlie. If it wasn't for the St. Mary's fire department i probably wouldn't have been able to save my charlie.
Red cross was able to meet with all of us who were victims of this fire. Thanks to all of you who donate to the red cross we were able to get a gift card to help replace some of the things we needed. Red cross also was able to pay for three nights at a hotel for all of us.
Two days later, still fresh into the loss, red cross, the fire department of St. Mary's county and the girl and boy scouts were able to set up a spaghetti dinner for all of us who lost our homes. The boy scouts and the girl scouts passed out toys and books to my son and other kids who lost all their toys. It was the best feeling knowing someone could make my son and the other children be happy and come together for that short period. My sons face lit up when he got his stuffed animals and his books that were passed out to him.
Today I am still living in a hotel, its been two weeks and things are starting too look up i would like to thank all of you who did not have to do what you did, but you did. Too all of you who helped all of us out and gave donations and clothes and furniture and everything that was done for me and my family.
Special thanks to: Dwaine, Bella, Our apartment owner, St Mary's fire department, all the churches and the moose lodge, the girl scouts and the boys scouts, social services, Housing authorities of st. Marys county, HPRP........ and everyone else i may have not named you are in my heart and i thank you for everything.
